7 Movies That Will Make Your Stomach Rumble!

Updated: Nov 23, 2019

Have you ever gone out to get food that you just saw in a movie? I have. There are movies that do such a good job portraying delicious food and making you crave a certain food. Let's look at some of those. Think again if you are hungry now. I warned you!

1. Ratatouille (2007)

Would you like to eat some food made by a rat? After watching "Ratatouille," your answer will be YES! This rat is talented, passionate about what he does, and most importantly, lovely. Cooking scenes are everywhere in the movie because it mostly takes place at a french restaurant, so if you love watching cooking, this is for you!

2. Julie & Julia (2009)

We can't talk about "Julie & Julia" if we were going to talk about movies about cooking. The movie tells two separate, but interrelated stories about Julie and Julia. Julia Child is a revolutionary American chef who introduced french food to Americans, whereas Julie Powell is a writer who loves to cook and idolizes Julia Child. You'll want some french food!

3. Kamome Diner (2006)

This movie is written and directed by one of my favorite directors Naoko Ogigami. The story follows a Japanese woman who opens a diner that serves Japanese food in Helsinki, the Finnish capital. The movie is therapeutic by showing slow Japanese cooking and a relaxed life in Northern Europe. It will be a perfect quiet Sunday afternoon movie. Ogigami is well known for beautiful cooking scenes, so if you like "Kamome Diner," check out her other films!

4. Toast (2010)

The movie tells a story of the cookery writer Nigel Slater’s early to adult life. Although his mom only knows how to make a toast, he becomes passionate about cooking. This film will take you on a nostalgic trip to 1960s Britain. And believe me, you will crave a lemon meringue pie after watching this movie.

5. Chef (2014)

Jon Favreau plays a chef at a prestigious restaurant in Los Angeles. His struggles with the owner of the restaurant made him decide to quit his job and start a food truck. And he finds his passion for cooking and for life during the trip! This is a feel-good movie that will make you happy and hungry at the same time. There's a famous grilled cheese scene so prepare to get some grilled cheese after this.

6. The Chef Of South Polar (2009)

Who would wanna go to the South Pole to eat? These men at the South Pole are sent there for an Antarctic research. Due to scarce food ingredients, they are tired of the same instant noodles every day. That's when chef Nishimura makes it different for everyone! There is fun seeing beautiful Japanese food with limited ingredients.

7. Mostly Martha (2001)

It’s German cooking now! The movie follows a story of a workaholic chef who experiences unexpected changes in her life. This movie also has an American version called, "No Reservations," starring Catherine Zeta-Jones in the role of Martha. I personally enjoyed the original German film better. If you want to see delicious food being cooked with a little romance, this movie is for you!
